General
The Product Test System is a computer based system for multiple product stimulus, monitoring, and control.

Hardware
The PTS is based on a modular board interface system that integrates controls and instrumentation with a host computer. Each function module is an intelligent, interactive, easily accessible system peripheral. System controls and interface coordination problems disappear. Complex measurements are reduced to simple, automatic tasks carried out by menu-driven software and simple keystroke commands.
Thermotron's PTS allows you to run multiple tests on multiple products automatically. This quickly adds up to economies of scale. Test profiles for multiple products can be quickly programmed and sequenced with the stress screening profile. This permits faster product throughput and contributes to a significantly more efficient operation.
As an integrated system, the PTS offers low cost, real time monitoring and data acquisition. It provides a plug-in answer for full-functional testing with real time monitoring. This removes the difficulty of establishing dedicated independent monitoring systems. In addition, the PTS provides extensive data acquisition, including type of failure, temperature at time of failure, profile interval and time of failure. This builds needed accuracy into testing and greatly simplifies failure analysis.
System & Software
Computer control of PTS is placed immediately at your fingertips, through user-friendly modular software packages written exclusively for product testing and screening applications. Operator entered screen and product variables can be run and monitored automatically, a significant advantage in reducing testing and personnel time.
The PTS can be used as a stand alone test system or rack mounted into the console of a Thermotron test chamber to provide operation verification during stress screening. The basic configuration includes a base unit, system software, a choice of test modules, computer interface cabling, and an easy to follow operations manual. A system can typically be up and running within a single working day.
PTS design allows for networking with other PTS units, as well as creating a network using multiple test chambers and central remote control. The PTS has an IEEE-488 interface that permits the use of a wide range of input / output configurations.

Gaining necessary field failure data to reduce product reliability problems is simplified by the PTS design. The system can provide a variety of reports that record precise information about the type of failure and the test conditions at the time of occurrence. This data can be saved for future reference, uploaded into a spread sheet or printed directly from the screen into a hard copy.
